The event will focus on two main questions:

  • how much progress have we made with advancing the LGBT+ rights and liberation agenda as of today?
  • where do we go next, and what should our priorities be?

Confirmed speakers:

Flora Renz (University of Kent and The Future of Legal Gender Project)
An international perspective on the future of legal gender.

Jordan Daly (Time for Inclusive Education – TIE)
TIE led a successful campaign which resulted in Scotland being the first country in the world to deliver LGBT+ history as part of the school curriculum.

Maria Exall (TUC LGBT+ chair)
The role of trade unions in establishing LGBT+ rights today how an agenda can be taken through the union structures.

In 2020 the TUC Congress passed a motion in full support of trans and non-binary rights.

Pav Akhtar (UK Black Pride)
Intersectionality of LGBT+ and race. In its 15th year UK Black Pride is an international leader in providing voice and space at the intersection of LGBT+ and race.

Trude Sundberg (University of Kent)
Presenting initial findings from a current research project into the experience of LGBT+ people working in the post school education sector.
